I just recently started using VPN connections to my home computer from work
(I do a lot of work at home as well as work, and always forget to copy over
everything I do... I use Offline Files, but it's not practical for all the
programs I wind up using).
Anyways, my VPN connection works great, but I don't like having to leave my
computer on during the day if I can help it.
Does anyone manufacture a simple device that either installs into a PCI
slot, or somehow goes in-line with the ATX power switch lines to allow a
remote turn on/off signal? Maybe using the telephone line? Something that
picks up after a few rings and waits for a touch-tone code (kinda like the
old X-10 telephone responder).
I see numerous programs on the market that allow remote reboots, but not
really for remote power on and off (or just power on, since I guess I can
remote-shutdown over the Remote Desktop Client after a VPN connection).
So does something like this exist? And if so, where do I find it?
