Remote Desktop Stopped Functioning With Wireless Router Installation

T

Tim

I had functional Remote Desktop working from my home to my computer at work
until I installed a wireless router at home (d-link 614+ 802.11b)... it
won't connect now and I've read about port fowarding but not sure I
understand it... I had changed the port the work computer listened on for
office network reasons to 3398 prefixed by the IP address for my RD
sessions... do I need to forward the port to the router that my home
computer is going out on or both of them ? Am I even asking the right
question...

Help would be appreciated... t

Let me see if I understand this correctly:

You are connecting via RD from Home to Work.

Nothing changed at work, but you added a Wireless router at home.

After adding the wireless router, you can no longer connect from home to
work.

The wireless router should have no effect on outgoing traffic from the home
lan--so I would stop looking at home, and go back to the work end. Is it
possible that you had port forwarding set up at work, but the private IP of
the work machine changed? Double check all the details at the work end of
the connection.
