I'm having problems connecting to the Remote Desktop on my XP Pro machine at
work. After entering the username/password in the login dialog on the remote
machine the following timeout message appears after a while.

"The remote connection has timed out. Please try connecting to the remote
computer again".

If I try to connected a couple of times the Remote Desktop (TermService)
service is shutdown.

The following message can be found in the event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: TermService
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1006
Date: 2004-02-23
Time: 10:23:52
User: N/A
Computer: FRT-STO-WS259
Description:
The terminal server received large number of incomplete connections. The
system may be under attack.

The same thing happens both if I try to connect from home or from the office
LAN from different machines. It used to work perfectly. Two weeks ago the
the Welchia virus was detected on my machine. I'm wondering if the could be
any connection although I don't think the svchost.exe was ever modified.

Grateful for any help or suggestions.

I have the same exact problem. Intermittent, but rarely
works.

How do you troubleshoot this between two XPPro systems
with Service Pack 1?

This what happens

When I try to connect to the host XP Pro machin it has to lock out the current session. The screen goes blank/black and the connection hangs. If I now hit any key on the keyboard (on the host machine) is "released", displays the unlock-screen and the connection proceeds. Once I have done this I can disconnect and connect as usual

Any ideas?
