Remote assistance failed using MAPI-compliant email

I have been trying to get remote assistanc to work from my machine (either as
the novice or the expert). It works using windows messenger but not with
using email. As the expert I receive a web page dialog from Remote
Assistance stating the following

"there is a problem with the invitation and it cannot be opened. To use
Remote Assistance, the sender of this invitiation will have to send you a new
invitation."

As the novice attempting to create an invitation I receive an Internet
Explorer dialog box stating the following error

"Remote Assistance failed. Please try again"

I use Microsoft Outlook 2003 as my default email program (it is configured
in IE as such). The application event log shows that my invitations as the
novice are being generated but I always receive this error. I have SP2 and
all of the latest patches and still have this problem.

It seems very specific to this one laptop since I have been able to get
multiple others working.

Paul,

I think you and I may have same issue here.. See my post "Remote Assistance
failed. Please try again"

I can ask for assistance and get it. Tried this with two different people
but as soon as I accept request for RA from them I get the "helpful" error
....Failed...

The similarity you and I seem to have is we both have all the updates
installed which makes me wonder if soemthing has recently changed. I am
pretty confident it is not a firewall type issue as I have tried without
routers at both ends.
