problem with remote assistance

Hi

I trying to use remote assistance over the internet but it does not work
both computer have remote assistance checked marked in the system properties
and both pcs are connected directly to the modem there is no router
we are using the invitation method thru email and have the correct passwords
but when i try remote assistance it says host cannot be found
How do i fix this problem
please help

I have had problems in the past doing RA via an email--try using Messenger
and see if that works.

do i need to enable UPnP by going to control panel - add remove windows
components - networking services and enable universal plug and play
will that solve the problem???

I had the problems with email RA around 5 years ago and I do not recall
finding out what the problem was so I cannot answer your follow-up question.
I have used RA connecting via Messenger hundreds of times and only have had
a couple of times when I could not connect. And, those were just temporary
problems.
