Remote Assistance do not start

I

Iuri Cuznetov

Hi All!

When I am trying to offer a remote assistance to somebody in my LAN, I am
getting this message: "A program could not start. Please try again." What it
could be? I've configured GP for my account to offer RA, I aloso had some
problems with DCOM, but I've started it in my registry as recuired. Do I
have to allow users for solicite RA? Please, any suggestions will be
appreciated. This kind of troubles started after some MS updates for Win XP.

TIA.

Are you in a domain or trusted domain?

If so see these KB articles for help with the offer function...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308013
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;301527

If not you can't use the offer functionality. See this page for an
alternative method for a SoHo work group environment...

Hi Sooner Al!

Thank you for your reply.
Are you in a domain or trusted domain?
Yes, I am in Win 2k3 domain environment.

I read it all before. Here is simillar situation:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826088/

But in my GP the Solicited Remote Assistance policy is _not configured_
while in KB is sayig about _disabled_. What do you suggest? Do I have to
enable it? But it looks unsecured for me, or in that case users will
solicite RA _only_ from helpers in Offer RA Group Policy, am I right?

Well, I really can't help further... Being a simple home user that is the
best I can come up with. Perhaps someone else can chime in...

I had a similar problem. I had ie7 beta 2 installed, and found that to be
the culprit. I uninstalled ie7, and voila!

Ie7 was never been installed on my LAN. It started after some updates from
MS... It's about couple of weeks I can't offer RA in my LAN and can't find
an answer on this issue... :(
