Reloading XP

E

Emjaykay

I am a MS partner with a MS action pack. I need to reload XP because of
various problems. However the PC will not recognise the original disc
because I have SP2 loaded and it will not recognise my latest XP disc with
SP2 on it.

Any ideas?

Hi

Is the latest disk you have a full XP SP2 CD or just the SP2 CD? If the
latter, you will have to create a slipstreamed SP2 CD, unless you want to go
back to the previous version of XP and then upgrade to SP2 again:

You can download the SP2 file (266 MBs) from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en -
or if you have a copy of the SP2 CD, you can copy the xpsp2.exe file from
that CD onto your hard disk/partition and use that:

then follow the directions in the following article to create a slipstreamed
XP CD:

Hi Mick

With that CD, you should be able to either perform a 'Repair' or 'Clean'
install of XP. Have you used the latest disk to install XP SP2 before now
or is this your first attempt to use it? When you say 'won't recognise
it' - have you got the BIOS setup to boot from the CD drive first?
