Am trying to reinstall/repair XP Home on my computer via the CD..
The process starts, gets to 35mins left and a blue scren with the following
mesage appears
" a problem has ben detctected and windows has been shut down"
PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED
TECH INFO : STOP: 0x0000006B (0xC000003F,0x00000002,0x0x00000000,0x00000000)

Subsequent reboots restart the installation where it left off, the same
problem occuring, the loop continuing..Have tried rebooting with XP boot
floppys but get taken to the installation restart, SAFE MODE, same thing
,cant get out of this loop..

Can anybody HELP?
Would like to SAVE my Files and SETTINGS if possible

when you put your xp disc in and it promps you=upgrade to windows xp=click =no.
a list of options will be given to you your looking for last good known
configuration or recovery console.problem with recovery console is that when
you first put in xp this has to be installed, bit silly really why not have it
auto install?your files should be in system restore when you get back in to
your system check this is happening it should do auto system checkpoints.you
didnt say why your system crashed?16 months ago i had to buy a new hard drive
i was getting all the ooxooooooooo blue screen etc.i had a dirty rotton
trojan in my system.worse of all i threw my old hard drive out not knowing
that i could have 2 hard drives make sure i had a virus scanner going and get
my files back into my new drive.but that was me and i am a novice.what
happened to your installation troubleshooting booklet in your xp disc
package? lol.

Many thnks for your reply....
My problem is that I dont get the original install menu appear when I start
up or its rebooted, as installation picks up half way through where it left
off, continues for 10mins then shuts down when the error message appears....
Reckon my original problem was due to a nasty trojan too....Dont mind
rebuilding if I can get to that point again but would really like to save
some important files first...

Regards
