reinstalling xp pro

I have a problem with windows xp professional. my computer has messed up quite a few times, and I've reinstalled xp pro many times. now when I reinstall it, it says the computer is registered to "not you, no longer" has anyone else had this problem and how do I fix it? thanks
 
When you reinstalled, did you opt to format the drive first?
