My Nephews computer crashed on him and is missing files such as the Himem. I wanted to reinstall XP but the CD that I have is not a bootable CD and when I run setup it says it can not run in dos mode. any suggestions?? I know there is a way to create setup disc but have not found this out yet.

If the WinXP setup file was downloaded as a .EXE file, you need to burn the
file to a new CD in ISO format. Your burner software should be able to do
that. You should then have a bootable installation disk.
