Reinstalling Windows XP Home Edition

R

Ryan

Hi,

I have been having some computer problems, so I called
Dell Tech Support and we spent over 2 hours on the phone
and were unable to make ANY progress. So, they
recommended reinstalling windows. My question is this:
Do I need to first remove Windows from the system (If so,
how?). Or can I just put the XP CD in and reinstall?

Thanks!!

Don't reinstall over another system. I have just tried to
reinstall Home over Pro so I can move Pro to another
computer. When I rebooted the new Home I know get black
screen and nothing happens. I know there is someway to
remove the old first by using a dos prompt and formating
the C drive again but am unclear. Hopefully someone can
help us both!

One cannot downgrade from XP Pro to XP Home.
A "clean install" of XP Home is required.
