REINSTALLATION

Can I renstall WIN 2000 and save my registry info, passwords, etc.
I indeed would like to run the old applications like before.
Specifically should I install over the old Folder or create a new one?

Reinstalling because boot was did not complete, system just hung with a 100%
busy CPU usage.
