REGISTRY_ERROR 0x00000051

FRAZZLED

This is a new problem following a post I made 2/4/08 and I thank GERRY for
his assistance. It would seem I have a RAM issue to contend with but need
info on this new problem.
While attempting to install diagnostic software into XP SP2 in Safe Mode, a
lockup occurred forcing me to shutdown and reboot. The subsequent reboot
tendered the above error message and now I can`t even boot into safe mode
from the hard drive
nor can I get to the repair stage booting from the OS Disk.
ANY help with Registry Recovery on an unbootable machine very much appreciated

0x00000051: REGISTRY_ERROR
This indicates a Registry or Configuration Manager problem. An I/O error
may have occurred while the Registry was trying to read one of its files
(caused by hardware or file system problems). This message might also
appear due to a memory management error (more common in earlier versions
of Windows NT).
