Does anyone know if its possible to get refills for the Canon w8400
instead of having to fork out for new cartridges every time?

Cheers

IMO, with that class of printer, and the fact that the ink is about 1/3 the
cost aompared to consumer printer, I wouldn't sweat it.

btw, if you found the chips, drop me a note, I'm looking for them too. What
inks it uses? Dye or pigment? Pigment is another complicated matter.

I use the large capacity compatible cartridges in a Canon N2000 and have
never had ONE problem. Not even a clog. Mine uses the 12XX series and
I get them for about $20/cartridge from this site:
http://www.neximaging.com/ Paying $130/cartridge is pretty steep even
with the large capacity. If the W8400 has chipped cartridges then your
only option would likely be to refill the old carts if the printer
firmware allows it.

Yes, but significantly more capacity for the price.

Yes, but the prints are significantly larger, and the percentage of
coverage is very high depending on the print type, so the per print
capacity of the cartridge isn't what you might think. At $1,000 for a
set of OEM cartridges is ridiculous pricing by any standard, IMO. My
N2000 would be $240 per set and with compatibles I pay less than $80 per
set shipped to my door. The OP can probably save about $600-$700 per
set using compatibles. That is a lot of money in my world!
