I am trying to install the recovery console on my brothers Dell Dimension
8200 computer that has windows XP Pro (SP2) installed. I am using a
slipstreamed (SP2) windows XP Pro CD that I made using the MS SP2 CD and the
Dell windows XP Pro CD that came with my computer. When I first received my
new computer, I was able to install the recovery console without any
problems, but don't remember the actual install events or dialog boxes.
When trying to install the recovery console this weekend, the install
appears to go okay with the initial setup dialog box asking for install
confirmation. After I clicked okay, the next dialog box appeared and
indicated that windows XP was being installed on the computer. I did not
remember this dialog box appearing when I installed the recovery console on
my computer and so I stopped the install since I was not sure if windows XP
was actually being installed on the computer. I should note that the
recovery console install procedure I am using is as follows:
Start/Run/ m:\i386\winnt32.exe/cmdcons.
Any clarification and applicable information would be very much appreciated,
