Recovering lost version

G

Guest

This morning when I opened a 30 page Word document, a little window came up I
had never seen before offering to open the document as a new version. I
suppose I tried to click it off but because I had not yet had any coffee I
evidentally told it to do so, resulting in a blank document replacing my
text.

Probably because I could not believe this was happening and in the beleif
that if I just started over it would all go away, my first reaction was to
close the document. By the time I learned from help I had to get the earlier
version form the file menu, it was gone.

But it must be on my hardrive somewhere.

Can anyone suggest how I can recover it?

thanks,

Helena

Hi, Helena.

You've posted your question in the Microsoft Access database newsgroup, not
the Word newsgroup. For best and timeliest responses, post your questions
in a newsgroup dedicated to the application you are using.
But it must be on my hardrive somewhere.

Not necessarily. You may have overwritten it with a blank document. You
may be able to find an autosaved document (provided you have this feature
turned on) in the same directory where your file was located. Use Windows
Explorer to see if there are any Word document temp files in the same
directory. If not, then restore from your latest backup. You do have a
backup, don't you?
