Recording Narration Problem

D

Dick

When I try to record nrrtion in PP 2000 I get a error
message saying PP is not receiving input from my mike.
The mike works fine for all other programs. How can I fix
this?

Have you clicked on the button that says "Set Microphone level"? Also, have you
verified your microphone settings by going to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio?

Maybe your volume is not high enough or you don't have the microphone set as the
source. Double click on the speaker icon in your System Tray. Then go to
Options > Properties and check the Recording button. Is the Microphone
selected?

Another test is to go to Start > Run and type sndrec32. The Windows sound
recorder will open. Does it record and playback your voice?

It's the little area at the bottom right corner of your window. You can also go
to the Control Panel > Sounds and Audio and click on the Advanced button in the
"Device volume" area. You'll see a bunch of devices, but probably not the Mic.
So, click on Options > Properties and check the Recording radio button. NOW
you'll see Microphone listed below. Make sure that it has a check next to it.

Thank you Sonia. I tried all your advice and the mike
works fine for every thing except "Record Narration" in
PPt. Even the sound recording works off the mike in PPt,
but not the narration? Weird! What do you think?

Does it work in sndrec32.exe?

I don't have an answer. I think at this point I would recommend that you find
someone with a different microphone and see whether you can borrow it and see if
it works.
