Record Narrative??

PP 2k (updated), WinXP..

I have a slide show with ~20 slides. Presented show with non recorded
voice(live). Want to send to others and trying to record narrative.
When I click on "slide show"-"record narrative" -"set Mic Level", I get an
error that states;
PP is not receiving sound from the mic. In CP (start menu, settings
submenu), double click -----".

Strang thing is I can record.

Any ideas of what is going on?

Go to advanced volume control. Probably from control panel > sounds etc or
you may have a sound icon on your task bar.

Check that "line in" isnt set to mute or very low volume

Check "line in".
Didn't help.
As I said, it will record it's just that when I try to set mic level I keep
getting that error msg.
It's working OK, maybe PP isn't picking up settings from Realtek ac97
card(onboard).
I don't play music, etc. through the system so I just use the onboard sound
card.

Could be just a fluke.
