Narration

I have PP 2003. I am trying to record a narrative. All I hear on my slide
is nothing. I clicked on Record Narration, set Microphone Level (I can hear
my voice through my speakers), When I click "ok" my slide comes up in Slide
show view and I then start talking. (I can hear my voice through my
speakers). When I run the slide again in Slide show view, I hear nothing
but silent. Do I need a special microphone or something?

No special microphones are needed, the system one (although usually not
broadcast quality) should do. Something to keep in mind, PowerPoint uses
the operating system for a lot of this function. Just because the
microphone can communicate with the speaks (all system functions) does not
mean that it can communicate with PowerPoint.

First thing to check is if the option to de-activate the narration has been
checked. Look in SlideShow => Set-up SlideShow=> Show without narration.
Obviously, this should be un-checked.

If the box is empty, you may want to check if PowerPoint has received any of
the narration from the sound recording parts of your computer.

First, is there a sound icon on the slide? If yes, then PowerPoint has some
sound effect with the slide, if not, then the recording was not saved to the
slide.

If you double click on the sound icon in edit view, do you hear your
narration? If yes, then there is a problem in the triggering of the sound
from within PowerPoint or you may have 2 sounds playing on a sound card that
can only support one.

Post back if these tests do not turn up the problem.

The option to deactivate the narrative is not checked. There is a sound
icon on the slide. When I double click the icon all I hear is silent..no
sound

Thanks
