Windows XP Really slow browser speeds

Hi,

I've got a big problem with my PC, usually I'm a mac user so I'm not too sure what to do.

My mac and PC both share a 3com router and are both wired atm, I can download/browse on the mac without any problems, downloading and uploading on the PC is at full speed but any browser I use IE, firefox, IE7, opera it's as slow as dial-up loading one page!
It's definitely not an internet thing as I can even access my router via the PC without it being super slow.
I've ran tests for spyware and viruses and they've come back negative.

any ideas?

Are you using USB or ethernet?

I was using ethernet, but today I upgraded to wireless to see if it were a cable problem....

but alas no joy.

Post the Spec of the PC.

oh god i'm such a noob when it comes to PCs1
er the OS is windows xp
has 512mb ddr ram and a 1ghz athlon processor

norton, AVG, zone alarm and microsoft spyware!
