My question was When using outlook to connect to sky I have no problems at
all - but when I
switch to windows Vista mail using the same settings I get no connection
and server error 0x800CC9, server error 0x800 CCC18 any suggestions please

In answer to the messages the unedited response from vista main is

Account: 'MAIL.SKY.COM', Server: 'pop.tools.sky.com', Protocol: POP, Server
Response: '-ERR not supported m4pf2510994ugc.0', Port: 995, Secure(SSL):
Yes, Server Error: 0x800CC9, Error Number: 0x800 CCC18

Thanks

Here are the Sky setup instructions:

http://www.sky.com/Assets/PDF/StaticFiles/720010.pdf

http://emailupgrade.sky.com/popchanges/PopChangesSNS.pdf

If you can't read .pdf files, download and install Adobe Reader:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

<http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/236/1/Unable-to-open-PDF-attachments-from-Windows-Mail.html>

Avoid installing the Google Toolbar; it causes problems in
Windows Mail.

Thanks for including the verbatim error message. It makes
troubleshooting so much easier!

You are trying to use an unsupported option.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties, Servers,
uncheck "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."
