re installing xp pro

can someone please tell me that if i reinstall xp pro do i lose everything i have on my hard drive eg. music files,games ect. or can a repair fix my problem of missing files. also can anyone tell me what emulating programmes are,and how i go about turning them off
 
If you choice upgrade to reinstall your OS then you will
not lost any, but you might have some registry problems,
which means you can't not run some programs. You will
have to reinstall those programs again, you might have to
uninstall or remove them first.
