Re-boots at startup

My PC gets as far as the XP logo, then after 2 seconds or so the screen goes
blank and it starts up all over again, until the XP logo; and so on & so on!

I tried booting up with the XP cd. All goes well until the Welcome to Setup
screen, then it hangs/freezes.

Any suggestions, please

Hey! I came across that problem too! See my "Windows XP will not start up"
post, dated Feb 6. I don't know how to fix it. Your explanation fit
exactly my description to a T. I also tried reinstalling the Windows XP cd,
didn't work. See also Maincat's reply to my situation. I really don't know
where to go from here. Let me know how your's get resolved.

Looks like a very similar problem, except if I boot up with the XP cd the
screen freezes when I get to the "Welcome to Setup" page. I therefore can't
even do a new install, nor a repair.
If I get a resolution before you do I will let you know.
