RAW file recovery on DVD-R

Hi-

We recently had a number of old film homemovies converted to DVD. The
business that did the conversion burnt the movies onto a Maxell DVD-R.
I've tried to play the DVD-R on a half dozen different drives and dvd
players with no success. If I put the disc in my computer and navigate
to the drive in which it is loaded, no files are visible. If I run a
chkdsk on the drive, I get the "The type of file system is RAW chkdsk
is not available for RAW drives" message.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can recover the files from the disc?

Just by looking at the back of the disc it appears that there is
something burned on it and all of my dvd players display a "Loading"
message when the disc is inserted, so I am pretty certain it is not
blank.

Thanks

Chris

Have you considered asking the company that burned them , What software do
you need to run files?

Yes, unfortunately the company is out of business. I tried DVD Shrink
and DVDecrypter with the hopes that I could rip the files to my
harddrive and then reburn, but no luck. I'm running PC Inspector right
now, but it is taking its sweet time.

Thanks guys. IsoBuster was able to read the disc and extract the data
as .tao file, but now I am not sure what to do with it. IsoBuster would
re-open the .tao file, but nothing else would. I renamed .tao file to
an .iso file, but EZCD Creator doesn't recognize that as a valid Disc
Image format. Any thoughts? I know EZCD sucks, so would I have better
luck with a different burning program? Am I missing some obvious step.
