RAM Boot from CF or USB Drive

Hello, this should be two questions here.
1. I am using a Kontron SBC which has a CF interface on it. I was able to
follow instruction to make a bootable CD with xpe.sdi file in it. It will
boot and XPE run from RAM. Great !! Now, I would like to do the same with
the CF but I am having trouble with that so far. Any suggestion will be
appriciated
2. If I can ever get the CF to work, can I also so that for the USB Flash
disk ?

Thank you

Can you elaborate on your steps for the CF?

I actually did a SDI boot from RAM on a hard drive, but it should be the
same for CF.

1. Prepare the CF - make sure the correct boot sector is on the CF.
2. Copy over the boot files, ntlder, ntdetect, boot.ini, etc. as well as the
SDI file
3. make sure the boot.ini matches the RAM boot parameters that the MSDN
article discussed.

Hello Sean,
Thank you for the response. This is what I thought I should do but I am
having trouble with it !! Let me list all the things that I have done so
far. This is including doing in HD and CF.

1. I formatted the HD and CF and mark it as active. Then I copy the
boot.ini, .sdi files, ntldr and ntdetect.com to the drive and when it boot,
blinking cursor :-(. Here is what I have in the boot.ini
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=ramdisk(0)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
ramdisk(0)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Embedded from RAM" /fastdetect
/rdpath=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\ramdisk.sdi /rdimageoffset=4096

2. I even try to load regular WinXP Pro SP2 on the HD and CF and make sure
it finish install to confirm that I have a "bootable" drive. I then copy the
files mentioned above into the drive and it still did not boot :-(

3. BTW, these are the files that I loaded into my CD and it just work at the
first time !!

Any suggestions will be appriciated !!

Thank you
William
I load Win XP Pro SP2 on the hard drive and CF and install everything to
make sure
