I have WinXP Pro, IE 6.0 iesp2. I also have installed Winzip 8.1 (full
license - not hacked or cracked). When on a web page, I click on a ZIP file
for download and it automatically opens in winzip. Not a big deal as I can
move the archive to where I want - just an annoyance.

I can't seem to locate any settings in "File Asssociations", IE or Winzip to
disable this behavior. looking at the Windows dir, I noticed that an
automatic update wass performed on my laptop Jan 22, 2005. This, apparently
began after that update.

Any ideas as to how to fix?

tx.

Excuse me if I get this slightly wrong (I'm using ME right now) but I believe
the solution is is folder options, file types, select file type, click
advanced, uncheck (or check?) confirm open after download.

That fixed it up. I guess with MS, you have to reverse think what their
check boxes mean. I do find it annoying that after an msS upgrade, one has
to go back and 'Unfix' MS sstuff.

Thanks Homer.
