Quick Launch

Sorry if this has been covered here a million times, I just can't figure it
out.

This computer is new to me, old machine ran Win 98se.

I always had a one touch button on lower r side of taskbar to open IE or OE,
Cannot figure ouot how to do this on Win XP machine.

Also, like a lot of people, I HATE change. I could not get used to the look
and feel of IE 7, so went back to 6, which suited all of my needs. I read
that there is a way to make IE 7 looks like 6, but am I better off just
using the older version?

Lastly, so I won't have to keep asking dumb questions here, how aboout a
point in the right direction for a site or two that may be helpful to
someone like me that has never used Win XP.

I hate to say it, but I've already made all the changes I could find
(classic start menu, etc) to get this thing looking like what I was used to.

To get the Quick Launch toolbar displayed, do the following;
Right click an open spot on your Taskbar at the bottom of the
screen.
Select Properties from the menu.
On the Taskbar page, put a check mark in the box next to "Show
Quick Launch".

You should now see the Quick Launch toolbar next to your Start
button.
Initially it will contain a shortcut to launch Internet
Explorer and one to show the desktop.
If you want to add shortcuts, such as one for Outlook Express,
you can right click the shortcut on your Start Menu and drag
and drop it onto the Quick Launch toolbar. Just make sure to
select "Copy here" from the menu that should pop up.

Another method would be to right click any shortcut on your
Start menu you want to add to the Quick Launch toolbar and
select Send to -> Desktop from the menu. You could then drag
the shortcut from the desktop to Quick Launch. If you add a
number of shortcuts to Quick Launch, they'll be hidden and
you'll have to click on the double arrows to see them. If you
want to display more shortcuts, right click the Taskbar and
click on "Lock the Taskbar" to remove the check mark. You
should now see a dotted bar which you can drag to the right to
display more shortcuts.

If you prefer IE6 then keep using it.

As for your final question, you're welcome to ask as many
questions as you want on these newsgroups. If you're looking
for a source of general knowledge of XP check your local
library. They probably have a number of books that are written
for people starting out with XP. Here's one I'd recommend.

1. Right-click a blank area on the Taskbar, scroll your mouse pointer up the menu
that appears, to 'Toolbars', and on the sub-menu that pops up, click to put a check
next to Quick Launch.
