Hello,

Using Win XP and Outlook Express,

I just changed internet providers and have 2 email addresses. I thought I
could have one email address for normal use and when downloading from the
internet use the other address when they ask for it. You know, the ones
that sell your email address. I thought this way I could get regular mail
on one address and junk mail on the other. I could check the regular address
daily and the other junk mail less often.

I have been fooling around with it , sending mail to both addresses and find
Outlook put both address mail on the same location. I did find a way to
separate this. I setup Eudoras free email using the 2nd address. This
works, but there must be a way I can do this using Outlook Express.

Has any one else tried this and if so can you tell me how you did it?

The 2nd question is about using News addresses. I think I remember seeing
something on this news program on how to do something with your email
address that no one could send email to you direct or use you address to
sell to someone.

Could some one tell me about this? Thanks in advance.

Bert

I am assuming both email accounts are POP3 email and they
are both going into your LOCAL folder inbox.
You can right click on the display bar that shows the email
headers and subject line, etc. Select "customize" and
include account in the display. Then create two or more
sub-folders under the LOCAL FOLDER, name them so you know
what they will contain.
Then create a message rule to move email from each account
to the appropriate folder. The easy way to do this is to
select a message from that account, right click it and
select create a message.

If you are using your POP3 email for a give-away address,
just get a Hotmail account (OE can set this up for you with
the wizard (Tools/accounts/email/new) and use that because
you can abandon it whenever you want. It is free.

The standard view in Outlook Express has a toolbar at the
top
[file edit view insert format tools message help]
with [other commands below, varies by user setup]
You may have a folder list on the left (vertically) and a
display of emails and a preview pane below.
Create your folders in the folder list under Local folders.
In the email pane above the preview there is a list of
columns which you can customize or rearrange by moving items
up or down. That is the list of columns you need to open
because the name of the account is not included by default.
Open the customize menu by right clicking in the bar which
shows something like [size attachment subject sent from]

After you do this add the columns you want to see so you can
identify to which account the email was sent. BTW, clicking
in these headers will alter the sort of the email on demand.
You can look at them by date or sender or subject.

To write a message rule. right click on the email
information and you should get a pop-out menu with "create
rule from message." This will allow you to select the
conditions for your rule.

The HELP menu can be helpful.

| Hi Jim,
|
| I have no problem making 2 folders in the local folders,
or making 2 message
| rule, but I am having a problem with the first item, right
click on display
| bar that shows the email headers and subject line. The
only bar that I
| right click that has customise is the bar showing the
Create mail, send and
| recieve etc. When I click that customise, I get the
Customise tool Bar.
| Where am I going wrong??? My big problem is age 80
yrs this month. Can
| you spell it out for me? Thanks
