PST File to Outlook 2007

I have an old email archive from outlook 2003 saved as a pst file.
I now use office 2007 and when I try to open this old file i get an error
stating the file cannot be accessed. I cannot copy the file from the external
back up drive to my machine as it then tells me that part of the file is
being used by another process.
Any ideas??

is another copy of outlook using the pst? After rebooting and before opening
outlook, copy the pst to the local drive. Make sure it is not marked read
only.
