Cannot import Outlook 2003 pst file into Outlook 2007

I saved my contacts and 2 email folders from Outlook 2003 to a pst file and
reformatted my computer and then installed Outlook 2007. I now cannot import
the pst file into 2007. I receive a message stating "File access is denied.
You do not have the permission required to access the file C:\Documents and
Settings\John\My Documents\John's archive.pst" Not sure why access is denied
as I'm the computer admin on the PC.

This is a home computer running XP with SP3. Any help is very much
appreciated.

Export and import is NEVER the way to transfer data between one Outlook
instance and another.

How did you create the "John" user, its profile folders, and the PST that it
in My Documents? It sounds to me like you don't have proper ownership of
the file or you copied the file from a CD and forgot to remove the read-only
flag.

Once you've checked that, use the Mail applet in Control Panel to add the
PST to your mail profile and make it the delivery location. No importing
needed, although your export of it probably already lost some data.

Did you save your data to a file of that name?
And how did you save your old data?
The C path you gave is not a standard win path, did you create these
folders?
Generally you dont Import (or Export) native outlook data, within Outlook
you open the data file
