pst file maximum capacity - unable to delete / reduce

am running Outlook 2007 on Vista & have exceed the limit on my PST file.
Attempted to delete some old emails, but keep getting error message ".pst
file has exceeded limits. Reduce size by deleting using SHIFT & DELETE key".
This has been tried but nothing can be deleted or moved to an archive .pst
file. Currently Outlook is "frozen" and an unable to transmit any emails via
Outlook until this "blockage" is cleared. Any suggestions?

Outlook 2007 does not have a size limit on a 2007 format pst file, unless
maybe your IT dept / you have amended some registry settings.
Are you actually using a 2007 format (unicode) pst file?
