PST file size not reducing

Hi there,
I have a pst file of 1.6gb, deleted several mails and emptied my deleted
items aswell but the size of the pst still shows 1.6gb - how can I reduce
this. Do I need to create a new pst file? - pls can some one help me

Dear,
Close Outlook, Open Mycomouter then control Panel, Mail, Data files, click
personal folder, settings, compact now.

It may take some time to compact the size.

After deleting things you don't need and emptying the Deleted Items folder,
right-click the PST root ("Personal Folders" or "Outlook Today"), choose
Properties, click Advanced, then click Compact Now.
