File size not reducing

Hi,
I have OLXP and my file size about 1.6Gb, whenever I tried to open a mail or
search a mail it takes a while(not as fast as before), my friend advise me to
delete or archive old mails, I have deleted old mail(about 900) but the
problem it still shows the 1.6Gb size - that means - Do I need to delete more
messages?

Dear,
Delete emails - it will not solve your problem - you need to COMPACT the pst
size.
My best advise is to Archive old emails than deleting.
