When attempting to access the properties or sharing menu
for my any of my local drives from either My Computer or
MMC Disk Management, nothing happens after
clicking 'Properties' or 'Sharing...'
I'm able to get propeties dialog boxes for other things,
such as the task bar, the desktop, icons and network
connections. For some reason, however, I can't get it from
these other two locations. Of course, I need to be able to
access these menues so I can make my disks available on my
local network.
A similar problem occured about two weeks ago. At that
time I was also unable to run a search from the start
menu. In attempting to fix that problem, I ended up worse
than I started crashing the computer so badly that I had
no choice but to reformat and reinstall. Unfortunately,
three different glitches during various parts of the
reinstallation caused new crashes. Short story long, I had
to redo the system completely three times (yikes!!!).
Needless to say, I'm hoping someone else has seen this non-
functioning proprties dialog issue before and can tell me
what is causing and whether or not there is a fix for it,
as I am in no hurry to try troubleshooting my way into yet
another complete system meltdown.
Any ideas are appreciated.
