Share My Calendar opens wrong dialog box

Greetings:

When my buddy attempts to share his calendar with another user by
either clicking on the "Share my Calendar" hypertext under My Calendars
or by right clicking on his calendar and then selecting "Sharing..."
from the menu, a property dialog appears that doesn't include the
permissions tab. Instead, it includes General, Home Page, Auto
Archive and Synchronization tabs.

What can I do to get the dialog box with the permission tab to show up?
Why does just this user get such a different dialog box to appear when
he wants to share his calendar?

Is the folder in question in a .pst file or an Exchange mailbox?
