MMC and Event Viewer

Guest

Hi,

Problem: I can access the mmc, computer management, event viewer,
application log, system log, etc.. However, in the right pane when attempting
to access (i.e. double click) on the Event to display the properties, nothing
happens, I may see a very brief screen, but it disappears... No way to
determine what this screen is... Reapplied SP2 to windows XP2 with no
resolution... Tried to update to more recent mmc, with the same issue
resulting... In general no error message is display, nothing to indicate
why I am not able to review the informationin an event properties dialog
box...

Any thoughts, suggestions, etc... would be great...

Clear *all* Events. There may still be some data and it may be corrupted.

In Event Viewer, right click Application, Security and System one at a time
| Clear All Events | Click No to... [[Do you want to save "Application"
before clearing it?]]

If Wesley's advice does not help, give the following command a try:

regsvr32 els.dll

Type that in Start, Run. Close and re-open Event log.

Hi,

Attempted multiple event log clearing to include removing the logs as
indicated by Wesley's email.

Completed the regsvr but this did not resolve the issue.

The dialog box (i.e Warning Properties) appearing after the right click
states "No properties are available on this object."

Interesting point is that the log when exported to a csv format provides the
description information about the event.

Any ideas...

Hi,

It's "regsvr32 els.dll". Please check the spelling again, and run the
command again. Let us know what's displayed in the output.
