Program loading problems

I recently reformatted my computer
Now i am having problems with windows XP
1 whenever i try to load programs such at Itunes, it doesnt. You can easily
see its process with the task manager,it looks as if it tried to load it, but
just stopped mid process.
2 The windows search option no longer closes, well, it does but not all the
way. The window disappears but the item is still on the task menu. Should i
attempt to make it end program, Explorer.exe ends.
I am sure there are other problems, but i havent found them yet. I do not
have a virus, and dont have SP2.

Is there some windows repair i can run?

PLEASE HELP ME
 
Oh yeah, it also takes a loooonnnnnggggggg time to shut the computer off.
 
Yeah, just run down to your computer store and ask them to
sell you one of their magic bullets . . .
 
yyyeeeessssssss, how bout some help? This is my only comp, the hardware isnt
the prob, its windows.
