Program Capatibility Assistant

When I start Vista Home Premium I get a message from the compatibility
assistant that a driver has been blocked as it is not compatible with this
version of Windows. I have tried uninstalling that program and when that
didn't cure the problem, I deleted all of the files and all of the folders
associated with that program (Sonic Record Now DLA) and I still get this
error. What is wose is that there is an endless loop; when I close this
assitant the error message pops up and when I close that, the error message
comes back. How can I fix this or at least turn off the endless loop.

I have not. I was more focused on turning off the assistant than deleting
the file since I have deleted the program. I no longer need it since Vista
include its own buring capability. I am not sure what to look for in the
registry. Any suggestions?

Carl,

if you are not familiar with registry editing I would not do it manually.
If you are you should search for any entries concerning this specific
software.

But there are utilities on the market that scan your registry and are able
to delete faulty entries. (like registry mechanic and the like)

Since you deleted all programm files I suspect that some registry entries
are the problem. You should also look for entries in the autostart folder and
similar places.

Good luck

;-)

Thanks Hubert. I actually had tried to upgrade this program from the Dell
website before I installed Vista since the Vista Upgrade Assistant had
identified this as a possible issue. Even through I did this updgrade, I was
still getting this warning. Perhaps there is an even newer patch that is now
available but I am not sure this will work now since I deleted the entire
program in an attempt to get the resolved the issue but it won't hurt to try.

Thanks Hubert; this fix worked. I still don't know how to turn this
"assistant" off because the loop that was running was sure annoying
