When I start windows home premium on a new pc for the first time should i get
an option to choose the installation language? I bought a pc in germany and
the start up failed i got an error message in an endless loop i got it to
start with the recovery disc but that has set it to German and i cant change
it. Can anyone confirm or not that if the set up had run correctly i should
have been offered the option to set up in English. if this is the case i can
go back to the manufacturer and complain.

Languages offered will depend on the version purchased. Western European
edition will offer different options from the United States edition.
If you are talking about OEM the manufacturer should provide any support you
need.

Thats the point medion seem confused about what they offer on start up I
belive I should have been ofered the option to install in english but i need
to get this confirmed so I can go back to medion and complain. I do not think
they would offer a german version only. I have a colleague here in
switzerland who bought a vista home premium notebook and was offered a
language choice on 1st start up? So I need to know what i should have been
offered

If you post the information from your certificate of authenticity, maybe
someone can find the answer for you. If you have Ultimate, you can install
a language pack. I understand that one of the business versions also has
the option also. They need to be downloaded and installed after the initial
installation.
