problems with WinMail

Every since downloading a Windows update a month or so ago, I am having
trouble with Winmail. I cannot connect. The error message I get is this...
Your server has unexpectedly terminated this connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems... Error number 0x800ccc0f. I have no problem
using web based email but I would like to get this problem with winmail
fixed and am at a loss as to how to do it. I have tried changing every
setting that I can think of. Any help would be appreciated.

You might try removing your account, closing and reopening Winmail and then
adding it back again. Also check with Yahoo for the proper settings as they
may have changed them.

"Unexpectedly terminated" is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

A friend of mine told me yesterday they're having this too on an XP laptop,
so it probably is AV and not a "Windows update" . . . . .
