problems switching between users

I have xp home version.
Recently I unistalled some unneeded software and then ran
a disk clean-up and disk defragmenter. Now I am unable to
switch between users. I tried in the control panel to
select fast user switch but it won't apply my changes.

Please help.
 
Try using System Restore to take you back to a time before you had this
problem. Start\All Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore.
