After upgrading to Windows XP, I was instructed to remove
and reinstall Norton Firewall 2004. This I did, but now
when I try to reinstall the firewall I get this message:
Set up has detected that a previous install or uninstall
has been competed but required a restart. Please restart
you computer then launch set up again. When I do this I
simply get the same message again. Can anyone advise me
on how to overcome this problem?

Doug have A similar problem install Norton firewall version 2004 problems
stem from upgrading from win98 Symantec has several suggestion to fix this
problem by editing the registry 1 st document from them was ID
2002090916180306 second doc id 2000020412002136 and Microsoft doc Q315352. I
tried all and they did not work you might try and reinstall the MSI
installer from Microsoft. What I finally did was to do a clean install of XP
and reinstall all my software again.
Pain in the neck to do but fixed the problem.
