Problems during installation

Hi,
I have XP SP2, and I had Antispyware installed. One day, during navigation,
appeared a msgbox suggesting me to upgrade the antispyware to new release.
I agreed and there began my problems.
First, it told to me I had to upgrade Windows Installer to 3.1 or more
version, and so I did. Then, when I tried to install defender, I receive the
following message:
"A required update to Windows Update is available at the Windows Update
Website. To view a list of all installation requirements, visit the Microsoft
website: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=63848".

But in the requirements page nothing is said about this misterious windows
update....
What can I do?

Than you

Bepi

Hello Bepi,

Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
adinistratºr.

This is the key!
The installation as an admin is not enough.
You needed to login as an admin.

Can you gº to Windows Update, select Express (Get high-priority updates),
and apply all offered updªtes
http://update.microsoft.com

Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs?

There are many pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and
signature update with windows defender will fail until you hªve these files.
