problem with staying online

just unpacked my sony vaio and now i have a big problem. when i use dial-up
to get online it is fine, but when i use my lan line, you go to a website
and it will shut the computer down and restart. i have no problem going to
the same site on the dial-up, i hope someone has an answer.

When you go lan, is it broadband (opposite of dial-up)? If broadband then
your isp can help you there with settings and configurations you need to
make.
