Switching Accounts.

Hello.

When switching between Administrator Account and Limited User Account
(log-off/log-on; I don't use 'Fast User Switching'), my dial-up connection
shuts down. How can this be avoided? (I wish to stay connected when
switching accounts).

My OS:WinXP Pro SP2; Dial-Up Connection 56K.

Not an answer to your question, but some very pertinent information if by
Administrator account you mean the built-in Administrator:

Please be aware that it is VERY BAD PRACTICE to use the built-in
Administrator account on a day-to-day basis and as your only account on the
computer. If the account gets corrupted, as it may well do, then your ONLY
way into the machine is by doing a repair install of XP. set up a User
account and give that Admin rights for daily use, leaving the built-in
Administrator account for emergency access only.

Thanks Ramesh, it works!!!

The dial-up connection remains active after logging off :)
I recall seeing on an other machine a prompt displayed "Do you want to keep
the Internet connection alive?" Or something like that. I don't see this
prompt on my machine but I really don't need it anyway.

For your information; It appears that the procedure as explained in kb234050
is not quite right.
There is NO Add Value in the Edit menu.
"3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry
value:
Value Name: KeepRasConnections
Data Type: REG_SZ
Value: 1 "

Fortunately the Help menu clarified the procedure :)
To add a value
Open Registry Editor.
Click the key or entry where you want to add the new value.
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click the type of value you want to
add: String Value, Binary Value, DWORD Value, Multi-String Value, or
Expandable String Value.

You may wish to initiate steps to amend
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/234050 accordingly.

Cheers...........Mel

Thanks for the feedback, Mel. That article was originally written for Windows NT 4.0, hence the confusion in line #3.
