Problem with Search function on Start Menu

The Search command on my Start Menu has lost all its
functionality. A software program somehow has replaced
the default windows search options with its own, which
only searches that application. The Windows search window
doesn't come up at all.

How do I get back the original search window and options
that installed with Windows XP in the Start Menu?
