Problem with DVD burner, windows doesn't find drivers for it

I bought the Pioneer DVR-100 dvd burner, and did everything correctly in the
instructions on installing it inside my computer, but when I booted up
Windows tried to identify the drive as new hardware and said it couldn't find
any drivers for it, I tried both disks that came with the drive and Windows
couldn't find nothing for drivers on either, I even went to the Pioneer site
and couldn't find the drivers for it. All I could find is firmware update for
the drive, but it stated not to use it unless for certain its the correct
drive or it could hurt the drive, so I didn't get that firmware. The thing is
identified for Windows as a regular cd drive, thats it. Can someone please
help me get the driver for this drive or help me find a way to get it to work
as a dvd burner. I do have Windows Service Pack 2, so I was wondering if
thats the problem?

XP will recognise this drive natively. No external drivers are
necessary. Nor firmware updates. Sounds like the drive might be
faulty.

Can you try it on another XP system? Make sure it's set to Master and
that all the IDE pins are straight and none have been accidentaly bent
(you might need a magnifying glass for this).

Tried setting the drive to Master and rebooting. Didn't reconize it still as
a DVD burner, just a regular cd drive. Also, this is the second drive I have
tried. I had bought a Sony dvd burner and that one Windows couldn't even
identify at all. That's why I am thinking its not the drives its windows
itself?

Is it recognised properly in the BIOS?

I checked bios and its okay in there, also when I do properties on the drive
it shows thats its the Pioneer DVD drive that I bought, but just the normal
icon states it as a cd drive. I got it to burn a DVD+R but everytime I reboot
my system it still keeps telling me that the drive is new hardware, so I
still don't understand why its doing that.
