Problem with CD-Rom

I have a IBM T43 with XP2. The majority of the time, rather installing software from a disc or looking at data on a cd, it won't eject. Of course I push the button and right click on the drive - eject. Nothing happens. I have to shut down the pc. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried going to IBM's site to see if there is a driver update for the
CD-Rom or possibly a BIOS update?

Also, there should be a small hole in the front of your CD-ROM drive. You
can unfold a paper clip and stick it into the hole. With some light pressure
the drive will be ejected manually. However, this should not be a permanent
solution.

You could also try going to My computer, right-clicking on your CD-ROM drive
(usually D: drive) and selecting "Eject" from the menu that appeared when you
right-clicked on the drive.

Have tried right clicking on the drive. I will check IBM's site and see what I can find. I don't think it will fix it however if there is something available. As I mentioned before, when you shut the computer down it's as if a process ends and allows the drive to eject.
