Can't find a driver for NEC CD-ROM Drive:28D

I've looked for hours and even NEC site doesn't have a driver for this CD-Rom
drive. The PC does not run and cd's (audio or video) but will eject if
selected. I think I need a new driver. Any ideas? I think I need a new
driver but can't find one.

Thanks in Advance!

Optical drives use native/included drivers in Windows XP. If you have
a 3rd-Party burning application it likely adds something called Upper &
Lower filter drivers to provide burning capabilities.

The only software that needs updating is the Firmware code inside the
Optical drive. This usually comes directly from the vendor web site.

If you have issues then it's more likely to be the Controller that actually
hosts or serves the drive.

Also try the following. You should back up the registry before making
changes:

Click Start, Run, type Regedit, click OK.
Locate this Registry Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters]
Note: Do not delete the Key or the Multi-String Values. Delete only the
data values.
Exit Registry and Reboot

Joe, I see the string and 4D36E...0318 listed 24x and your note not to delete
the string but only data value. What data value and how do I delete it?
