I accidentally uninstalled my standard driver for my cd-rom. Neither my cd
burner or my new dvd burner show up. I'm having a crisis!! Can't install my
new dvd software because I can't use my existing cd player. How can I get my
xp pro driver back? I can't find my original xp pro cd or my samsung cd
software...HELP....PLEASE someone.

Have you tried the CD-drive manufacturers site?

My samsung cd burner is outdated on the samsung site. I was told by the Best
Buy guy it would be a good idea to uninstall my old cd unit as I would not
need it with the dvd unit. Only thing was...I had the original cd player and
the samsung cd burner. When I uninstalled the standard cd-rom, or what I
thought was just the player...I lost it all. Got an error 28 message and
neither the samsung unit or the new pioneer dvd unit show up, XP doesn't even
see them. Can you Help?

I don't pretend to be very knowledgeable about this. However, have you
thought of a system restore before the point when you uninstalled the
driver?

CD/DVD drives are usually installed by opening "Install new hardware"
in the Control Panel and allowing the machine to search for new
hardware. If this does not help then these links may:
